"Noah heeded God's command to build an ark that he and his family might be spared destruction.
"As yet there was no evidence of rain and flood . . . [Noah's] warnings were considered irrational . . . How foolish to build an ark on dry ground, with the sun shining and life moving forward as usual!"
Noah had the unwavering faith to follow God's commandemnts. May we ever do likewise."
Thomas S. Monson, "They Marked the Path to Follow." Ensign, Oct 2007
Tips For Building A Modern Day Ark:
Use your next Family Home Evening to create a plan. Ask everyone in your family to make a list of nutritious foods they normally eat (or would eat) that don't require refrigeration. Brainstorm together and come up with a master list. Then, start working on acquiring a three-month, rotatable supply of these foods. Report your progress each week in Family Home Evening until you have reached your goal. Some examples: nuts, oats, pasta, spaghetti sauce, canned fruit.
Already have your three-month supply? Use your next Family Home Evening to brainstorm foods your family would like for your one-year supply. A small portion of these foods may be rotated with your three-month supply.
